Nevertheless, 37 percent of those who answered the poll intended to buy a new house (19 percent) or an old one (18 percent), while 11 percent were thinking of buying a new car.
Only 1 percent of the interviewed were planning to buy a plot of land in 2009.
According to Kiwi Finance, 53 percent of the Romanians felt the economic crisis affected them in a serious manner, while 31 percent were less affected and 16 percent considered that the current economic downturn had no significant impact on either their professional or personal situation.
More than a half of the interviewed – 51 percent – were concerned with the possibility to see their wages shrinking, while 34 percent were afraid of losing their job.
Paying their monthly interests rates to the banks represented a priority for 18 percent of the Romanians, while 11 percent only wanted to be able to pay their monthly needs.
Kiwi Finance conducted the study ‘Romanians, after One Year of Crisis. Reactions and Decisions’ over May-June 2009, in the urban environment, on a sample of 1,000 people, earning between 400 and 2,000 euros.
