Loading ...Sales of new cars on Romanian market dropped in the first seven months to July by 56.1 percent as against the same period of the previous year and stood at 92,526 units, compared to 210,705 units in January-July 2008, according to statistics of the Car Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA).
The bus segment, with an 83.8-percent shrinkage and the trucks’ segment (over 18 tonnes) with an 87-percent decrease were some of the segments of the automotive market with the biggest shrinkages, whereas car sales went down 52.5 percent (82,821 units).
Domestic production stood at 176,208 cars, of which 166,706 cars, up 9.3 percent as against the same period of the previous year (10.2 percent for cars).
Exports grew 54.6 percent, standing at 149,348 cars and car imports went down 56.8 percent at 64,608 units, for cars the decrease being of 52.6 percent.
