Teodor Melescanu, vice-president of the Senate

Liberal Teodor Melescanu was elected on Tuesday, as vice- president of the Senate, with the plenum of the upper chamber of the Senate validating with 103 “fors” and three abstentions the new membership of the Standing Bureau of the Chamber of Deputies, for the autumn session.

The only modification operated in the membership of the Standing Bureau was the election of Melescanu in one of the four positions of vice-president, with the senator being proposed in this position by the Group of the National Liberal Party, PNL, in the opposition, of the Senate, according to the algorithm negotiated at the beginning of the new Legislature.

In the first session of the year, the position of vice-president of the Senate, going to the National Liberal Party, PNL, was filled by Crin Antonescu, who has recently given it up, for being able to deal with the electoral campaign for the Presidency of Romania.
