Currently work is done at the assembly department, for the last half of the year, the assembly of some 2,000 units is taken into account. From Jan 2010, we will begin “in force,” the said sources announced for Business Standard.

In Nov 2008, the former head of the National Authority of Control from the period of Nastase government, Ionel Blanculescu, the representative of the company that gave consultancy to HOYO Co. for the investment in Brasov, announced that HOYO-SHK Modern Agricultural Equipment Co Ltd will assembly tractors in Brasov, on an industrial platform of 50,000 sq m, that will be opened at the beginning of 2009, with the company intending to invest 20 million dollars in a small factory of tractors.

According to the initial plans, in a first stage 150 workers will be hired, with their number increasing to 500, function of the extension of the factory.

As regards the tractor range, the manufacturer wanted to produce tractors of 20-120 HP. Romania avails of one of the poorest in Europe equipping with tractors and agricultural tools, with some 54 ha per tractor, compared with the EU, where the average stands at 13 ha.

The domestic park of tractors amounts to some 170,000 units, of them almost 80 percent are worn out. Unlike in Western Europe, where the tractors are considered old at 3,000 – 4,000 hours, in Romania a tractor is used even for 12,000 hours. After the liquidation of Tractorul Brasov, the main supply of tractors comes from Mat Craiova and Mecanica Ceahlau.
