Information in English

The Romanian state’s constitution and unity cannot be touched and cannot be negotiated, Social Democrat leader Mircea Geoana said at Tebea, Hunedoara county (western Romania) on Sunday.

Geoana, who attended the National Celebrations held at the grave of Avram Iancu, a 1848 revolution leader, stressed that unity, the dignity of being a Romanian, patriotism and the faith in God are the elements that united the Romanians at the hard times of life.

‘There are things that have made us carry on in these lands, as times were very hard for Romanians. Whenever we lived difficult times, we united and the national dignity re-awakened and we knew how to be patriots in the bright and clean sense of this word.

Whenever times were hard for us, we remembered God and our fathers’ faith’, Geoana said.
He said all those values are still held in the Romanians’ conscience. The festivities at Tebea were attended by more than 5,000 people.
