The registrations of Dacia motorcars in Europe amounted to 18,947 in August 2009, up by 38.7 percent as against August 2008 (13,656) and the market share of the Romanian car maker went up from 1.2 to 1.7 percent, according to the statistics of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), which were published on Tuesday.

The ACEA statistics refer to the motorcar markets in 28 European states: 25 EU states (except for Cyprus and Malta) and three EFTA states (Iceland, Norway and Switzerland).

In the first eight months 160,050 Dacia motorcars were registered in the 28 European states, up by 30.8 percent as against January-August 2008, when 122,387 cars were registered.
As a whole the sales of motorcars of the Renault Group on the 28 markets amounted to 839,556 cars in the first eight months of 2009, down by 8.7 percent as against the first eight months of last year, 919,850 motorcars.

The registrations of new motorcars in Romania went down in august 2009 by 71.9 percent as against the same month of last year and amounted to 8,591 cars as against 30,523 cars in August 2008, according to the statistics of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association.
In the first eight months of the current year 81,824 new motorcars were registered on the Romanian market, down by 59.5 percent as against the same time span last year.
