From that moment on, the states were invited to dedicate Sept. 16 to the promotion of activities in conformity with the objectives stipulated by the Protocol and its amendments.
The events organized this year are run under the theme ‘”Universal participation: Ozone protection unites the world” and are aimed to draw attention upon the danger represented for mankind by perpetuation of industrial activities, which deplete the ozone layer. According to the Law no. 84 of Dec. 1993, Romania adhered to the Convention on ozone layer protection.
Romania made numerous steps in the implementation of ozone legal regime, by creating the needed institutional and legislative framework for its application and by setting up a stringent control upon the trade with these substances.
Implementation of the non-polluting technology transfer, with the aid of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), had as a result the elimination from use of more than 1,000 tons of dangerous substances for the ozone layer.
