The Council of Governors of IAEA met for designated the states that are going to fill the position of president and the two posts of vice-president of this body, in the session 2009-2010.
According to the principle of rotation Malaesia was confirmed in the position of president of the Council of IAEA governors for 2009-2010.
According to the principle of rotation, Malaesia was confirmed in the position of president of the Council of Governors of IAEA for 2009-2010, replacing Algeria, and Germany was designated in the position of vice-president instead of Finland.
The East-European regional group and the states members in the Council of Governors decided the renewal of the mandate of Romania of vice-president of this body for one more session, suspending in this way the enforcement of the rules of procedure stipulating that this position cannot be held twice on a run by the same state.
According to MAE, the re-election of Romania in the position of vice-president of the Council of Governors for 2009-2010, by acclaim, stands proof to the engagement of Romania at the level of IAEA, as well as a recognition of the activities held in the session 2008-2009, dedicated to agreement on the budget and of the programme activities of the organization.
