During the talks, the two dignitaries approached such issues related to the energy field, both from the perspective of the Romanian-U.S. diplomatic ties and from that of Romania being an EU member states.
The two officials insisted mainly on the Nabucco Project, on the cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan in the energy field and also on the general cooperation in this field from a European perspective. Diaconescu and Morningstar underlined both Romania’s and the United States’ interest in the Nabucco project, with the American side insisting on the important role played by Romania in the project, as part of the southern corridor.
The two parties discussed also about the stimulation of the Romanian-U.S. business connections, the diversification of the consulting services in the energy field, the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of renewable energy, especially in the context of the climate change, which represents one of the top priorities of the U.S. Administration.
