Vote stamp to be customised for presidential election

25 septembrie 2009

Information in English

The Government has decided to introduce, for the first time in the history of elections in Romania, customised vote stamps, Minister of Administration and Interior Dan Nica said on Wednesday.

‘The vote stamp so far was a simple stamp with the words VOTED embossed on them, and on election day some of them would vanish and everybody would start suspecting that the missing stamp would be used for multiple voting in the same locality or other counties,’ said Nica.

He added that the stamps for this November presidential election will be customised to carry the number of the polling station and the county where they are used.
‘This way, even when lost they will no longer be used in other polling stations. These stamps will be made by the State Mint,’ said Nica.
