Senate’s chairman discusses with Azerbaijan’s president on Strategic Partnership between the two states

The strategic partnership between Romania and Azerbaijan in the economic field with special emphasis on energy cooperation was the main topic of the talks between Romanian Senate’s chairman Mircea Geoana and President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, reads a news release.

‘The chairman of the Romanian Senate compared the international context of present Romania and Azerbaijan with ‘The Silk Road’ with the difference that this turned into an ‘Energy Road’. Geaona emphasised the importance of Azerbaijan as supplier of energy for the entire Europe,’ reads the aforementioned source.

Mircea Geoana said the cooperation between the two countries might forge in order for Romania and Azerbaijan to maximally exploit their advantages in the current geo-strategic context, reads the aforementioned release.

The president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, for his part said that both countries are key-countries in their regions and that the Romania-Azerbaijani is in favour of both partners.
Regarding Azerbaijan’s relation with the European Union, President Ilham Aliyev, voiced hope that his country would not remain a mere supplier of the EU and that the Eastern Partnership would yield concrete results for the Azeri nation, reads the source.
