“Logan is to stay for a few years, but it is going to be replaced by another range. A new family of cars will follow the Logan”, said Stroe, quoted by Business Standard daily.
Dacia vice-president pointed out that the new range will have another name, completely different, and the replacement will happen “pretty soon”.
“All the people talk about Logan. Nice, but Logan has a short life. Dacia is perennial, Logan is changeable. Something else will follow the Logan, because its lifespan comes to an end in a few years time”, said Stroe.
Dacia officials, Renault Group director general Francois Fourmont and Dacia vice-president Constantin Stroe took part in the launch of the book with the title “Renault and Dacia ten years together”, written by Dan Vardie. The event marks ten years since Dacia was taken over by French Renault Group, in 1999.
Constantin Stroe recounted that, prior to privatization with the French producer, talks were carried out between 1990 and 1998 with eight big carmakers: Renault, Peugeot, Audi, Fiat, Crysler, GM, Hyundai, Daewoo. Finally, when the negotiations with Hyundai started to materialize, Renault changed its mind and showed interest in Dacia.
Dacia will make this year some 300,000 cars in Pitesti (south), the daily production being 1,340 units. At this level Mioveni plant finished by being the largest production unit inside the group, underlined Francois Fourmont.
Dacia is to launch next year a new model, a new SUV model, its production line being almost ready.
