Voinescu said that the issue that should have been approached in the meeting scheduled for Wednesday at 13 p.m. was President Traian Basescu’s request to call a referendum on the introduction of the unicameral parliamentary system and the appointment of some persons depending on the leadership of institutions subordinated to parliament.
Democrat-liberals proposed that the meeting be rescheduled for Monday, October 5, Voinescu voicing hope that the chairman of the Senate, social-democrat Mircea Geoana will participate together with PSD MPs in the meeting.
PD-L democrat stressed that the meeting scheduled on Wednesday was legally convened observing the provisions of the parliament’s two chambers. Democrat-liberal deputy said that liberals and social-democrats should have expressed by vote the option on the referendum on the parliamentary system.
‘PSD members would have had the opportunity to oppose by vote or to argue against of the organization of such a referendum. I think it is not normal the procedure’s going be held back by the absence of MPs,’ said Sever Voinescu.
The request of calling the reunited permanent bureaus was signed by deputies PD-L Ioan Oltean, Dumitru Pardau, Sever Voinescu, Gheorghe Albu and by PD-L senators Anca Boagiu, Alexandru Peres, Gheorghe David, Orest Onofrei and Dumitru Constantin.
