“The decision made by Mircea Geoana and the Social Democratic Party [PSD] to refuse the dialogue is likely to generate a political crisis Mr Mircea Geoana and PSD will have to assume,” said Videanu at the Victoria Palace, where the PD-L leaders waited for the PSD representatives to attend a meeting of the Central Coordinating Political Bureau (BPCC) of the ruling coalition that was convened at 9 am.
According to the PD-L leader, Mircea Geoana and the PSD representatives made an “unjustified” refusal to have a dialogue and take part in the meeting of the coalition.
Videanu added that nobody can censor the Prime Minister’s right of proposing the removal from office of a member of the Cabinet. The first vice-chairman made it clear that Emil Boc was entirely willing to find a solution.
“The Prime Minister was entirely willing to find a solution. He proposed to PSD to nominate a representative for the portfolio of the Administration and the Interior and Vice-Premier. He also proposed that a Cabinet minister should take over this portfolio in the interim.
We were entirely willing and still are to discuss the solutions suggested by Romania’s President, namely to find a solution for nominating an independent member for this portfolio the two sides agree with, to remove any suspicion or the parties that are members of the coalition should support a representative coming from the opposition,” said Videanu.
The PD-L first vice-chairman said that the working regulations of the coalition stipulated that the Central Coordinating Political Bureau convened in its weekly meeting on Monday and in an extraordinary meeting whenever necessary when summoned by any political group that is a member of the coalition. He also said that PD-L convened the coalition BPCC for Tuesday, at 9 pm, or for Wednesday, at 9 am.
