“The main topics of this year’s meetings will be the world crisis and the political answer given to it, the way the financial sector works in crisis circumstances , the impact of fiscal policies on the crisis and on the recovery chances, the financing of development policies and the central banks’ experience in managing the crisis.
The economic crisis will be the main topic of the meeting , and that’s a natural thing given the IMF and WB’s role in getting out of the crisis and easing its social impact,” Cretu explained.
“Tens of millions of people have lost their jobs, poverty has deepened and according to estimates, over 50 million people have become poor. Poverty is the main concern at this time and I will approach it during debates devoted to the role of development policies aimed at reducing poverty,” Cretu explained.
