Taking the floor of the extraordinary Congress of the PSD + PC Alliance, Mircea Geoana accused again Basescu for having thrown the country into a “devastating” political crisis, saying that “Basescu is steering Romania to wreckage and has sunk the country into the mud.’
“For the country and the Romanians, Traian Basescu is a plague. He is a danger. There are still 50 days and we will rid the country of him. [...] He pulled the government down, he lies to the Romanians, wants to steal elections, but we must stop him. It’s time to say: Enough is enough! We can not longer be at the side of those who contrive the evil of the country!
This man does not care about anyone or anything. He wants yet another term as president at any price,” Geoana said.
The PSD president also referred to the Social-Democratic ministers’ recently quitting their government offices, saying that Traian Basescu has “generated a political crisis while Romania is struggling with an economic crisis.’
“He is to blame for our current situation. Crisis, thy name is Basescu! He deliberately concocted all this. He knew what he was doing. He premeditated this move Dan Nica’s reshuffling, several days ago. He did not hesitate for one moment, because it is desperate. He knows that he is losing elections and the Romanians no longer trust him,” said Mircea Geoana, pointing out that Traian Basescu “is a danger for the country.”
