- President Traian Basescu inaugurated on Sunday in Ludus (Mures county, centre Romania) together with UK ambassador to Romania, Robin Barnett, the Vitafoam plant on an investment worth 12.3 million euros.

- The Ludus-based company has started this week the production of flexible polyurethane foam. The plant with state-of-the-art technology observes the same quality standards of design and equipment as the branches of Poland, Lithuania and Hungary and it will supply a wide range of products made of foam to regional customers.

Traian Basescu said that the investment would trigger new jobs, taxes and duties and state-of-the-art technology in Ludus. Traian Basescu said that the investment in Ludus has started after the outbreak of the world economic crisis and that production has started under the same circumstances.

As for the global economic crisis, Traian Basescu said he was optimistic that it would lessen gradually, since some of Europe’s big economies have started to recover, therefore, this will influence the Romanian economy, too. Ambassador of United Kingdom to Romania, Robin Barnettt, said that UK runs investments in Romania worth four billion euros in railway and maritime transport, in environment and constructions and that other fields of interest for the British investors are financial services, automotive industry, agriculture and food industry.

The completely automated Ludus-based plant covers an area of 12,000-sq.m. and it will employ some 50 people. 10 percent of the output is bound for export, according to Vitafoam’s general manager, Nicoleta Stoian.

Ludus town has been chosen because of its very good communication ways with Romanian cities, being situated on European Road E60, with Hungary, and with other countries of the Balkan Peninsula.
