PM Emil Boc gave assurances on Monday that the salaries in the budget sector will not fall by the application of the uniform salary law in 2010. The trade unions in the budget sector met on Monday, with the caretaker minister of labour Gheorghe Pogea. Over 800,000 budget employees, from education, healthcare and the public administration are going on an all-out strike on Monday.
They are discontent with the fall in the incomes of the employees in the budget system, once the uniform salary law comes into force, with the ten-day unpaid leave of the employees in the public area, in the period Oct 2009 – Dec 2009, as well as with the leave of a big number of employees, announced for the year 2010.
The dialogue with the trade unions, opened on Monday, has to take into account the economic situation of Romania, in the context of the crisis, said, on Monday, interim minister of Labour Gheorghe Pogea, at a meeting with the leaders of the of the Budget Alliance.
“We will have, in the reform measures we will take to ensure the compatibility with the dynamics of the private sector. The package of foreign financing agreed by the foreign partners, FMI, the European Commission and the World Bank, goes to the financial support of the meeting alliance and the World Bank, to the financial support of the reform package which Romania has to make.
Any interruption of these reforms will have negative consequences, ” said the interim minister of labour. Pogea underlined that Romania does not allow itself to operate on a long-term with a deficit of 7-8 percent and showed the unionist a white blackboard, saying that he will write “correct figures” therehe next 6 months.
