On the 7th day of the Francophone Games, a sports and cultural event held these days in Beirut, Lebanon, Romania already holds 2 gold medals, 2 silver and 1 bronze. Ancuta Bobocel won the golden medal in the 3000m steeplechase (10’05”01/100) and in the double mixed table tennis event, while Bianca Perie came out second in hammer throwing (67.67 m), right after French Manuela Montebrun (70.26 m).
Alin Anghel won the silver in the triple jump (16.24 m) while tennis table player Cristina Alina Hirici won a bronze medal. Some 3,000 athletes and participants from 42 countries are attending the event.
The games are divided in two parts with athletes competing in six sports disciplines, including athletics, women’s basketball, boxing and table tennis. Participants are also competing in seven cultural events, including painting, sculpture, photography and creative dance. The games were first held in Morocco in 1989 and were last held in 2005 in Niger.
