Foreign investors associations in Romania say that the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investments (ARIS) is no longer functional for few years and urges the setting up of a national body capable to offer consultancy in an efficient way, as well as information to Romanian and foreign investors, announced on Monday Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania Sorin Mindrutescu at the end of the Romanian Economic Forum.
“The American, German and British chambers of commerce in Romania and the Foreign Investors Council submitted a proposal to Romania’s President Traian Basescu for the setting up of a single body which will offer consultancy and information to Romanian and foreign investors. We do not want a new institution, just a functional one. ARIS has no longer been functional in recent years”, said Sorin Mindrutescu.
According to the vice-chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Romania (CCBR), Raymond Breden, the asked for structure should offer information ranging from legal to the European funds accession. As well, the representative of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce considers that a competence center should be set up for all investment types.
“The creation of a competence center is needed, to deal with the whole investment range, not only with the big ones”, added the Chairman of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce Radu Merica.
