The National Trade Union Confederation (CNS) Cartel ALFA, The National Union Block – BNS, the Democratic Trade Union Confederation of Romania – CSDR and the National Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Romania – CNSLR-Fratia, which held together a protest rally on Wednesday in Bucharest, in the Victoriei Square (downtown the Romanian capital), ended the demonstration.
According to the organizers, more than 30,000 people protested against the Romanian Government breaking the Anti-crisis Measures Plan, which had been agreed with the social partners early this year.
The claims of the 4 federations of trade unions were related to the granting of a guaranteed minimum pay per economy of 740 lei in 2010 and of 1,300 lei in 2014, that is minimum 50 percent of the average pay per economy. Moreover, the unionists asked for the revision of the national pay scales, in compliance with the principles and criteria convened during the negotiations for the single pay law in the public system, for investments in economy and support to be given to such economic operators contributing to the development of the national economy, for a pact to be concluded for employment, to generate new stable jobs and to protect the employees, and also for the ensuring of temporary unemployed protection.
Last but not least, the unionists claimed an increase in the pension point.
The federation chose October 7 to held the protest rally because it represents also the World Day for Decent Work.
