Chairman of the Senate”s Foreign Affairs Committee Titus Corlatean has met on October 5 His Excellency Ambassador Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, OSCE Secretary General.
The two officials exchanged views on the current political situation in the East European space and the Caspian region, the Republic of Moldova, West Balkans and examined the situation of the frozen conflicts in Transdniestr region and Georgia. Titus Corlatean underlined the need of backing the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova citizens, the European family represented by the European Union, OSCE and the Council of Europe having the obligation to provide the needed support for the democratic evolutions in Chisinau.
At the same time, aspects related to the situation of the Romanian communities in Romania”s neighboring states were also approached. Senator Titus Corlatean asked OSCE to get more involved in the securing of respect for the European standards in the matter of national minorities” protection in the above-mentioned cases.
