University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) of Cluj-Napoca (centre-west) on Wednesday, October 7, extended the Doctor Honoris Causa award to former sovereign of Romania, King Mihai I, at a ceremony held in Mihai Serban Assembly Hall.
Thanking for the extended distinction, former sovereign said he walked in for the first time in the Cluj-based University in 1932, when he participated alongside his father, King Carol II to the inauguration of the University”s Mihai Serban Assembly Hall.
“Your are a good example for what is happening today in our country. The Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine is a preserver of the national values and I would like to congratulate you on your individual results,” said former sovereign to the representatives of the academic environment who attended the ceremony.
At the same time, King Mihai I voiced his joy of being present in Cluj-Napoca on the occasion of celebration of 140 continual activity of the of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. The ceremony of awarding the high distinction opened with the Royal Anthem and of Gaudeamus hymn sung by the choir of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology with the Babes Bolyai University.
Rector of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Ph.D. Doru Pamfil praised King Mihai I for his historical merits and his contribution to Romania’s integration into the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union.
Attending the festivity in the Mihai Serban Assembly Hall were Queen Ana, Metropolitan bishop of Alba, Crisan and Marmures, Bartolomeu Anania, university professors, numerous intellectuals.
