The Romanian Government on Thursday approved a Decision on the financing of 183 projects belonging to local public administrations of all counties within the national programme on environmental improvement by the realisation of green areas in localities, reads an official of the Environment Ministry.
The overall value of these projects stands at some 123 million lei and the Environment Fund ensures the due sums. According to the document, projects entail the development and modernisation of green areas in localities and the establishment of new parks and wider green areas, the recovery of the old ones with a view to decreasing the concentration of noxious emissions from the air and the rise in the size of green areas in line with the EU standards.
The normative act approves projects selected within the national programme on improvement of the environment’s quality by the realisation of green areas in localities over January 3-31, 2009 and August 25-September 5. A new session for the submission of financing files within the same programme is underway, the deadline being October 12.
In 2009, the national programme on the improvement of environment’s quality by the realisation of green areas in localities will be earmarked 200 million lei from the Environment Fund’s budget of revenues and spending and from the Environment Fund Administration’s budget, approved by Government Decision no 228 of March 4, 2009.
