Trade unions called for the freezing of the minimum pay at 600 lei, in H1 of 2010 and for its increase to 705 lei in H2 of the same year, depending on the economic evolution, general secretary of the CONPIROM employers’ union Dan Matei Agathon said Monday.
“We have asked for a salary freeze in H1 of 2010 given that the National Commission for Prognosis estimates that Romania’s economy might go up as of H2 of 2010,” Agathon said. Last week, during negotiations, trade unions said they were ready to agree to the increase in the minimum wage for 2010 to 705 lei against 740 lei before, while employers’ unions agreed to that level, but on certain conditions.
Head of the employers’ union UGIR – 1903, Ioan cezar Coraci said at that moment that trade unions were ready to agree to an increase in the minimum wage up to 705 lei or even more, on the condition that certain stipulations in the collective labor contract, likely to increase salaries by 17.7 percent, would be given up.
Employers’ associations have also called on the interim Labor Minister Gheorghe Pogea not to tax the pay rise (the difference between the minimum wage and the 1,000 lei ceiling).
