Of these, 5 were reported in Bucharest (3 cases having arrived from Egypt, one from Germany and one from Israel), 2 cases were reported in Iasi (one person returned from France and one from Portugal) and one case was found in Brasov county (arrived from the United States).

All cases were mild clinical forms and received anti-viral therapy. So far Romania confirmed 351 cases of infection with AH1N1 virus. By the activity of the Cantacuzino National Research Development Institute, Romania is part of the flusecure consortium, ensuring the production of 5 million doses of swine flu fragmented vaccine for nationwide utilization.

The networks of epidemiology and infectious diseases have managed to intervene promptly, according to protocols and in record time having reported only 351 at a population of over 20 million inhabitants. Romania is still the only country which is treating all the cases infected with A/H1N1 virus in hospital. The Health Ministry’s coordination committee has established an action plan for the upcoming period as regards the vaccination against swine flu.
