‘We will have tomorrow a joint session of the two chambers of the Parliament where we will adopt a resolution to show that a majority does exist in the Parliament right now supporting the candidacy of Klaus Iohannis for the position of Prime Minister.
We want to prove that the majority does exist in the Parliament, representing 65 percent. We want to give thus a clear signal we support Klaus Iohannis,’ the Social Democratic leader said on Tuesday, in the end of the joint session of the Standing Bureaus of the two chambers of the Romanian Parliament, also adding that the decision of the majority in the Parliament is ‘extremely important’.
According to the Social Democratic leader the Wednesday session will send a message about ‘the necessity of a legitimate government, to be installed as soon as possible to prevent the even more degradation of the political, economic and social situation of the country.’
Mircea Geoana also mentioned that there would be also debated at the joint session of the two chambers of the Parliament the negative notification of the legal committees over the letter of President Traian Basescu referring to the organization of the referendum on the single-chamber parliament on the same day with the presidential elections, on November 22.
