Romanian President Traian Basescu on Wednesday, 2 p.m. will submit its candidacy to the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC), to run in the elections for a new term in office as head of state, according to the BEC spokesman Marian Muhulet.
On the same day (i.e. Wednesday), at 1 p.m., the leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Mircea Geoana will submit his candidacy.
The single candidate who didn’t make any announcement yet about the submission of his candidacy to BEC was the independent Sorin Oprescu, who is also the incumbent Bucharest City mayor. There also registered their candidacies with the BEC Crin Antonescu, George Becali, Nine l Potarca, Kelemen Hunor and Corneliu Vadim Tudor.
