International meeting on combating trafficking in persons

Combating on-line human trafficking and child pornography were the topics tackled at the 6th meeting of the heads of the structures committed to the fight against the organised crime in Southeastern Europe that took place under the coordination of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Romanian Police General Inspectorate (IGPR), in Brasov (central Romania), on Oct 19-21.

According to IGPR PR department, the event was aimed at strengthening the regional cooperation in combating the trafficking in persons and the child pornography, as well as analyzing the developments in the operative situation. The abovementioned topics were approached in the context of the anniversary of the European Day of Fighting against Human Trafficking, which is yearly marked on Oct 18.

The participants also debated the issue of identifying the most efficient methods of combating the trafficking in persons and the child pornography, the development of joint projects on humans trafficking as well as strengthening the relations among the main players involved in combating this crime, in the region.

Attending the meeting were the heads of the structures for combating the organized crime from Germany, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova, he Russian Federation, the United States, officials of the Hans Seidel Foundation and the Bucharest-based Southeast European Cooperative Initiative (SECI) Center, of Romania’s Ministry of Administration and Interior, internal attachés and liaison officers of the foreign polices accredited to Romania.
