President Traian Basescu said, late on Wednesday, in an interview with the public television, that he did his best for the representatives of the International Monetary Fund, IMF, to come to Romania for an evaluation and that in the days to come, it will be known if they accept or not.

“We have made all the interventions for the Fund to come to Romania to make the evaluation, regardless of how the situation of the Gov’t is (…) I am not sure, but I know that, for a few days, after I realized towards what we are going, because of what has happened after the fall of the Boc government (…), I have done my best, for the Fund to come and make the evaluation,” said Traian Basescu.

He added that for Romania, “the zero priority” is the getting of the money from the Fund, adding that, if not, the appearance of a situation of great social difficulty is possible.
“I am leading things until the area of national security at the current moment. If we do not receive the money we have to receive from the Fund we can get into trouble. And this has to be avoided.

What can I do with a premier who has not yet read the agreement with the IMF ?,” said the president. Basescu also said that currently Lucian Croitoru has chances higher than 50 percent to get the vote of Parliament, and added that he does this taking into account the opposer of the designated premier.
