According to a press release issued on Thursday, Elena Basescu put in during the debate on the financial and economic situation of Moldova in the plenum of the European Parliament and requested the hasty granting of substantial financial aid to this country, where the economic crisis was strongly felt.
“The relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova is extremely close economically. My country is the first destination of Moldova’s exports and the second source of imports. These economic exchanges have seriously been affected by the abusive introduction of visas for the Romanians by the former communist regime.
The 100 million euro loan promised by the European Commission to the Republic of Moldova must be speeded up,” says the Democrat Liberal eurodeputy.
An IMF mission will be in Chisinau in a very near future, says Elena Basescu, Poland promised to give substantial aid, and the European Union must consider the fact that, by the vote they cast in July, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova proved their openness to Europe.
“Now substantial aid from the EU is necessary before winter sets in so that the anti-European forces should not be allowed to take advantage of the difficult situation the Republic of Moldova is in. So far no euro has gone to the Republic of Moldova,” reads the above-mentioned release.
