“Meeting those conditions represents a requirement for the unblocking of the amount of 1 billion euros from the EU funds. This is the second tranche of the financial assistance package on medium term, in the total value of 5 billion euros”, says a release issued by the spokesperson of the European Commissioner for economic and monetary affairs.
The evaluation made by this second EC mission is positive if it assesses that Bucharest took measures to “counter the fiscal slippage risks towards the end of 2009, as well as the adoption of 2010 budget with a deficit not higher than 5.9 percent of the GDP. Moreover, it should reach an agreement upon the fiscal, macro-economic and structural policies, essential for the future success of the financial assistance programme”, the release also informs.
The mentioned source also stressed that the community executive could send a follow up mission when a new government is in place in Bucharest.
