“By the building of units 3 and 4, but also in consequence of the raise in the consumption of electricity in Romania, the production at Cernavoda will come, in future, at 2,800 megawatts, from the current 1,400,” said Andrei Goicea.
The manager of Nuclear Electrica presented, at the conference, the role of the company on the electricity market in Romania. Nuclear Electrica is the operator of the only nuclear-electric station in Romania, based at Cernavoda. The station contributed in the past years to a cut in the carbon dioxide, even though it supplied in 2008 only 17 percent of the total of energy produced in Romania.
The current situation of the European energy market and the measures that should be adopted for making it more efficient represented the main topics analyzed on Thursday, at the summit in Prague.
The 5th edition of the Emerging Europe Energy Summit started on Thursday, in Prague, an event organized with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Romania, the Regional Regulators Energy Association, ERRA, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EBRD, the World Bank, WB, and the European Federation of the Energy Traders, EFET.
The almost 80 delegates from over 20 countries will analyze the situation of the current energy market, in the context of the world economic crisis, that has led to a cut in the request of energy. Discussed will also be the most recent projects from the field of energy in the emerging European countries.
