Non-repayable loans grew by 4.3 percent in September in monthly terms and 18.3 percent as against June. The value of loans in lei with delays in payment stood at 3.8 billion lei on Sept. 30, up 5 percent over August and 17 percent over June.
For the loans in foreign currency, loan delinquency totalled 2.7 million lei (denominated) on September 30, being 4.5 times higher as against the same period in 2008.
The balance of loans at the end of September stood at 200.2 billion lei, up by 0.5 percent as against December 2008 and 0.6 percent compared to the end of Q1.
The population’s loans in foreign currency reported a rise in the first nine months by over 3 percent to 60.35 million lei. In annual terms, the growth was of 9.1 percent. However, the population dwindled the balance of loans contracted in lei by 3.7 percent in the first nine months, to 39.4 billion lei.
The balance of loans extended to the population in lei for dwellings was of 1.7 billion lei on Sept. 30, up by 4.7 percent over December 2008 and by 7.47 percent in annual terms. Mortgages in lei fell in Q3 by 0.76 percent.
Mortgages contracted in foreign currency by the population totalled almost 21 billion lei, up by 8.5 percent from the end of 2008, by 19.6 percent compared to September 2008 and by 1.7 percent in quarterly terms.
Loans in lei contracted by companies went down by 3.8 percent in the first nine months, to 39.4 billion lei. In annual terms, the reduction of loans in lei extended to companies was of 6.9 percent, according to the National Bank of Romania.
