According to the quoted source, consultations took place several months with all interested in – governing partners, social dialogue partners, business circles, civil society, academic circles, deputy Iulian Iancu being one of the participants in these debates.
PSD deputy Iulian Iancu said on Sunday Oct. 25, in a press conference, that the Executive initiated in the first electoral campaign day an overhauling process of the most important sector in the energy field – production.
“On Saturday, the Executive, in the first electoral campaign day, initiated an overhauling process of the most important sector in the economic field, strictly connected to the national security. The Government convened the administration councils and general assemblies of the shareholders from the companies in the energy field overseen by the Ministry of Economy to initiate the break up process, respectively of a merger between the energy producers in Romania (…)
The break up of social peace, with unprecedented conflicts in the field of justice, police, health care, education, till the animal breeders looked not sufficient, so that the caretaker government wants to introduce into this landscape a conflict between energy workers, respectively between the miners and energy producers”, underlined on Sunday, in a press conference, social democrat deputy Iulian Iancu.
According to ME, in order to have the highest number of participants, the restructuring process of energy production, through the setting up of the two new energy companies, was published in June 2009 on the ministry’s web site, and made the object of several public debates session. At the end of September, the debates period was over.
“We stressed that all along those debates the raised problems and suggestions made by the participants in the dialogue were examined, solved and included in the project.
The energy production overhauling is following its due course, in line with the procedures connected to the setting up of the two companies, as established following discussions with all those interested in. Energy sector overhauling is a condition of the steady energy development and decisions on Romania’s energy security represent an important part of the policies linked to the national defence strategy, especially under the current financial crisis conditions and the primary energy resources crisis”, says ME in its release.
According to the quoted source, the energy sector cannot be competitive on the market, in its current structure, given the different costs between the energy producers, hydro, thermal and nuclear. “In Europe production is flexible. Of the 21 scenarios referring to the domestic energy production restructuring the variant on the setting up of two companies was selected, given the costs, market share and structure.
As such, premises were created to protect the players on the market, so that the potential state monopoly will cease to break up competition. The energy sector could be highly vulnerable, if we fail to invest now into it”, ME also says in its release.
