The head of state also suggested that the President’s and the Parliament’s mandates should take both either 4 or 5 years. He pointed out that in his opinion, two “demagogic ideas” should be given up: the one saying that the elected president should “forget” about the party that supported him and the one according to which the head of state is neutral from a political viewpoint.
“No president after 1989, has been politically neutral,” Base scu said. He underscored that a President can be required to be “neutral” but not to “forget” the political party that helped him become president.
