The government release was meant to answer certain incorrect information that appeared in the media related to the cost of the upcoming referendum on the single chamber parliament.
‘We managed to save this much for the referendum will be held in the very day of the presidential elections on November 22, which allows us using the same polling stations and electoral bureau,’ the Government said.
According to the in force legislation, the elector would not be obliged to vote in both the presidential elections and in the referendum, the release also says.
For instance, depending on his/hers personal option, the elector will receive, based on his/hers signature, the voting paper for the election of the Romanian President and the voting paper for the referendum respectively, or a single voting paper, in case he chooses so.
In the context the elector doesn’t want to vote in both he elections and the referendum, he/she will only sign for the voting paper he/she needs and he/she will ask the representative of the electoral bureau to mark his name on the other list with the specification he didn’t want to vote.
