A group of priests, led by the Bishop of Ardeal Laurentiu Streza held the religious service, with archimandrite Paraian having been in the end buried in the cemetery of the monastery.
The archimandrite has died on Thursday morning, after many months of suffering. He was a role model, a devoted Christian and in the same time a man who knew the reality of his time.
Born in the Toparcea village close to Sibiu (central Romania), father Teofile was the first born of the 5 children of the family. Having been born blind, he had the strength to fight his entire life, succeeding in building for himself an important theological and more general culture. He graduated from the Institute of Theology in Sibiu (central Romania), in 1953. His true vocation was the life at the monastery.
The monastery in Sambata de Sus represented his dearest home to him, during his entire life, for here he was first a monk, then he became a confessor and, since 1988, an archimandrite.
His theological books are famous, the same as his conferences held nationwide and abroad, in Germany, France, Greece, in churches, schools, student campuses, universities and cultural institutions.
