“This referendum will not be prolonged by another day. This will last on the duration of the presidential poll’s day”, stressed the head of state.
As regards the referendum initiated by Adrian Nastase Government, in 2003, on the Constitution change, the Premier decided to lengthen the vote casting process by another day, so that the presence to the polls could exceed 50 percent and the referendum be declared valid.
According to the Constitution, a referendum is declared valid only in the case when more than 50 percent plus one of the total number of the voters included on the permanent electoral lists cast their votes.
