Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Mircea Geoana would rank second – 28 percent, followed by leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Crin Antonescu – 19 percent, independent Sorin Oprescu – 12 percent, president of Greater Romania Party (PRM) Corneliu Vadim Tudor – 4 percent, candidate of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor – 2 percent, candidate of the New Generation Party Christian-Democrat (PNG-CD) Georghe Becali – 1 percent.
According to CCSB poll, Traian Base scu would lose in the second round, in case his counter- candidates would be Mircea Geoana, by 45 percent to 55 percent, Crin Antonescu – 47 percent to 53 percent or Sorin Oprescu – 48 percent to 52 percent. As for the political parties preference, if the parliamentary elections would be organized next Sunday, 35 percent of Romanians would vote for the PSD+PC Alliance, PD-L would garner 34 percent, PNL – 19 percent, PRM – 6 percent, UDMR – 4 percent and PNG-CD – 1 percent.
Referring to the presence to the polls, 51 percent of the respondents estimated they would vote, 36 percent said they will not go to the polls and 13 percent said they were either out of the country or of the locality where they reside.
According to the opinion poll, 69 percent of Romanians think Romania is going into a wrong direction and 18 percent say the country is following a good direction, whereas 13 percent of the polled failed to provide an answer. The poll was conducted on a sample of 1,216 people, with a tolerated error of 2.9 percent, at a probability level of 95 percent.
