He also asked again President Traian Basescu to withdraw the mandate given to Lucian Croitoru and nominate the incumbent Sibiu City Mayor Klaus Iohannis instead, who, in the opinion of the Liberals, would represent the best solution right now to help the country out of the political crisis.
According to Orban, if the head of state chooses to do otherwise, he will have to assume responsibility for prolonging the political crisis. Ludovic Orban specified that the PNL MPs will openly vote against the Croitoru Government in the Parliament.
The Liberal leader also reiterated the theory according to which the political crisis was generated by the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L) and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) together.
“The current political crisis in Romania was created by the PD-L and the PSD together, by Traian Basescu and Mircea Geoana who, following the principle that two hands are by one too much for a single pocket, was not able to reach a necessary understanding to ensure the existence of a legitimate Government during such times of economic, social and severe institutional crisis.
We urge Traian Basescu to withdraw the mandate entrusted to Lucian Coitoru and nominate Klaus Iohannis for Premier instead (..). Unless he does so, Traian Basescu will remain the single culpable for prolonging the political crisis, with its dramatic consequences for the Romanian economic and social life and for the absence of a legitimate government to be approved by the Parliament,” Ludovic Orban said.
