The protocol was signed at the PSD central hqrs, and attending the ceremony were PSD General Secretary Liviu Dragnea, the head of the PSD MEPs Adrian Severin, PSD vice-president Victor Ponta and a PIN delegation.
PIN president Lavinia Sandru stressed that her Party backs up the project the PSD candidate for the presidential elections presents to the Romanians.
Signing a protocol with a green party means a step forward and even a modernization to PSD President Mircea Geoana and the Party he heads.
Geoana promised that in case he is elected Romania’s President, he will commit himself to the development of the ecological sector and the environment and will turn the environmental protection into a strategic priority.
The PSD candidate also made a prediction, saying that ‘during the coming years, we will have a critical mass of Romanian citizens who will vote much more massively with the ecological parties, it is a good sign of national health and prosperity,’ said Geoana who thinks that signing such a protocol is a challenge to the PSD, as well as a call to the young voters.
He would like the PSD voice to be stronger in the European Parliament in terms of the environmental protection and stressed that, in the respect, he backs up the involvement of the PIN, a party with a strong environmental dimension.
