PSD wants to empower Govt to draw up draft budget

Information in English

Leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Mircea Geoana on Monday, November 2nd, at a meeting with members of the American Chamber of Commerce , said PSD would find a way on Wednesday to empower the Government to come up with a draft budget.

“We will revise it in Parliament and the future Govt will have the task to make a rectification in January,” Geoana said. He said that very important was the 45-day period after elections for the future president and the future government. “If the first 45 days are coherent I believe that 2010 night end on a minimum increase,” Geoana said.

Geoana said that if he was elected president, he would commission the Central Bank Governor and the Finance Minister to go to the most important economic capitals and help Romania win its credibility back. “I’m deeply concerned about the bad reputation Romania has abroad. Rebuilding trust is a priority of the next president,” he explained.
Geoana said he couldn’t promise miracles in several months but made it clear that if he was elected president, he would propose a government supported by a solid majority in Parliament, by Christmas.
