Information in English

The financial crisis did not affect the interest of the US companies towards their partners in Romania, the commercial attaché of the United States of America Embassy in Bucharest Keith Kirkham said on Monday, in a news conference.

Kirkham added that the interest degree of the US companies in Romania increased by 15 percent as compared with the year 2008. The slowdown of the economic activities worldwide led each company to revise its activity strategy, but at the same time Romania continues to attract the foreign investors, American ones included.

And we continue to encourage Romania to display its candidacy to its US potential investors, because it has something special. Speaking from the experience of our office which is dealing with giving the necessary support to the US firms that wish to have local partners, either in the distribution or the investments’ filed, despite the economic crisis, we are able to say that in September when we closed the fiscal year, this was a very busy year and we continue to speak with US companies interested by Romania, the US Embassy in Bucharest commercial attaché Keith Kirkham said.

Kirkham said that from the trade and investments point of view the interesting fields in Romania for the US investors coincide with the fields the American technology is doing better, such as the environment and energy, at the same time existing opportunities in the IT field and even in the goods consumption industry, the franchise sector.
The last companies we have talked to are from the energy sector, the equipment producers in particular.
We are here, in Romania, for about a year and according to our data we have a 15 percent increase in helping the US companies on the Romanian market, as compared to the previous fiscal year, Keith Kirkham specified.

The US Embassy to Romania participated on Monday in a news conference at the Tulcea Mayoralty (north-east of Bucharest), on the occasion of the commencement of a project on a feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of the water supply distribution in Tulcea and disinfection of the tap water in Tulcea and Sulina (nearby). The project is financed by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) with USD 339,400.
