Basescu believes that setting up small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in the rural area to process the raw materials that the vegetal- and the animal breeding sectors put out, through using the EU funds included, should be among the agriculture’s priorities to be found in the structure of the 2010 budget. Thus, through a better use of the crop, poverty can be banned from the countryside.
The Romanian leader emphasized the need for farmers to set up associations, as a key to resolving the problems and to the economic and the social development of the rural area. Basescu said it is required that regional warehouses should be set up to take over the agricultural products from the small farmers who otherwise have to sell them at the edge of the roads.
As for the irrigations, the head of the state thinks that alternative solutions must be found to the old systems, particularly in southern Romania, the more so that there is highly performing equipment, mobile one included, today.
