In his view, Dacia’s performance is the more so worthy of appreciation as production is not yet fully automated, like in other plants worldwide. “I confess that this is not the first automobile plant I walk into. The big surprise to me was how production is organized. I saw, for instance, the Toyota facilities, where everything is automated.
Here I see a heavy, semi-automated process, and taking in consideration the quality attained by the Dacia car, I think that is the expression of the dedication of each and every of the workers here. It’s not easy to work eight hours on the assembly line,” remarked the head of state. Traian Basescu refrained from comments when asked what had driven him to appreciate – during a conversation with a worker – that the average pay at Dacia is small, but advised instead a partnership between the employers and trade unions.
“I was just discussing with union leaders that the partnership must continue, because, in such an industry, one can never know when problems occur. They appear suddenly, a market closes in a few weeks, therefore prudence must be the watchword in the employers – trade unions relationship. This is just a point of view, I do not give instructions to anybody,” said the head of state.
President Traian Basescu visited on Wednesday the Dacia Mioveni plant. After a meeting with the company management and a presentation of the current economic situation and of development prospects, he visited the engine and assembly sections, where he talked with the workers.
