The candidate supported by the Alliance between the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Conservative Party (PC) Mircea Geoana comes second by 30 percent, followed by the National Liberal Party (PNL) candidate Crin Antonescu with 18 percent and the Independent Sorin Oprescu with 14 percent of the votes.
Beneath 5 percent of the ballots would get the Greater Romania Party (PRM) president Corneliu Vadim Tudor – 3 percent, the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) candidate Kelemen Hunor – 1 percent, and the Cristian Democratic New Generation Party (PNG-CD) candidate George Becali – 1 percent.
According too the CCSB opinion poll, Traian Basescu would lose in the second round in case his rivals would be Mircea Geoana, by 46 vs. 54 percent, Crin Antonescu by 49 to 51 percent, Sorin Oprescu by 49-5 1 percent of the votes. The poll was carried out on a representative sample of 1,528 people from Romania’s adult non-institutionalized population. And its error margin was of 2.6 percent.
