“Information I have from the international institutions, from reputed Romanian experts, say Romania will leave behind the economic crisis and will re-start growth in the second quarter of 2010. As well, I want you to know that the most difficult part is now over. And slowly, slowly we will start recovering. We will also hope anew we will live better”, said Basescu.
The candidate of the Democrat Liberal Party (PD-L) reminded in this context the slogan use during his electoral campaign in 2004: “Live well!” “I know that this slogan used by me in 2004 (…) was made from the bottom of my heart. I know you do not live as well as you should, (…) but I assure you that my best wish for you is to live well!”, said Traian Basescu.
He also came with a plastic presentation of Romania’s current situation, comparing it to a ship caught in a storm. “It is the same as when a storm hits you on board of a huge ship called Romania. This is a huge ship with a crew of 22 million Romanians.
A ship hit today by a storm, but having a commander on the deck firmly steering the ship, guiding it to a quiet port”, Basescu also said. According to the organizers, more than 20,000 PD-L members and sympathizers from Arges County, and from other counties in the southern part of the country took part in the regional electoral meeting in Pitesti.
