CCSB estimates vote presence of 49 pct in presidential elections first round

49 percent of the Romanians with voting rights would cast their vote on Nov. 22, in the presidential elections first round, the Company of Sociological Research and Branding (CCSB) reveals in an opinion poll released on Sunday Nov. 8.

The absenteeism rate is estimated at 38 percent and 13 percent of the polled said they will not be in the country or in the respective locality. On the other hand, 67 percent of the polled said they are interested in the elections for Romania’s President, of whom 35 percent very interested in and 32 percent interested enough.

32 percent of Romanians said they are not interested in the presidential elections, of whom 16 percent showed a little interest, or no interest at all and 15 percent a diminished interest. A percentage of 65 percent of Romanians say the country follow a wrong direction, whereas just 19 percent say the direction followed by Romania is a good one.

The percentage of those who did not know or refused to answer this question is of 17 percent.
The opinion poll was conducted over Oct. 29 – Nov. 3 2009 on a sample of 1,528 representative people for the non-institutionalized adult population in Romania, with an error margin of 2.6 percent.
