According to the democrat liberal leader Emil Boc, members of PD-L National Standing Bureau have approved on Monday, unanimously, the signing of this protocol based on the “European People’s Party (EPP) shared membership of the two political formations”.
The democrat liberal leader stressed that the two political formations plan to jointly sustain the efforts of modernization of the Romanian state, as well as the continuation of policies in the fields of education, health care, red tape reduction and property retrocession.
“This first step opens the way towards a collaboration on the occasion of future local, parliamentary and Euro-parliamentary elections”, pointed out Emil Boc. As well, Emil Boc said that this is “a protocol of collaboration and not one of absorption”.
The document stipulates that the two political formations “support a common candidacy of EPP member parties in Romania in this year presidential elections, in the person of Traian Basescu”. At the same time, the document says that PD-L and PNTCD will take part in the future local, parliamentary and Euro-parliamentary elections “according to conditions to be subsequently negotiated”.
According to the last article of this protocol, “PD-L and PNTCD will promote center-right values and principles, in agreement with EPP’s policies, in the aim to unite the center-right parties in Romania in the aim of a joint ruling in the future”.
